Track Inspectors Dodge Metro Train Near National Airport

Two inspectors dodged a Metro train Thursday morning when it exceeded temporary speed restrictions, according to the Federal Transit Administration.

Speed restrictions were in place near Reagan National Airport as part of Metro's worker safety procedures, the FTA said.

A train failed to stop or slow down, and two FTA inspectors assessing track conditions jumped out of the way.

Metro said its chief safety officer is investigating.

Metro took two train operators out of service pending the results of the investigation.

FTA is working with Metro to investigate.
