15-Year-Old Boy Shot, Killed in Prince George's County

A 15-year-old boy was shot and killed down the street from his family's home in Prince George's County, Maryland, Saturday night, police say.

Officers were called to the shooting in the 2200 block of Columbia Place in Landover about 9:40 p.m., police said. They found the boy with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Sunday, relatives identified the boy as Dennis Taylor.

"It's real hard for me right now. They took my little brother from me, man. This is a lot to take in right now," said Dennis' sister Brianna Gaither.

Family and friends placed teddy bears and balloons at the spot where Dennis was found shot. Neighbor Bo Trowell told News4 he and his sister, a registered nurse, saw Dennis and tried to help him by calling 911 and performing CPR.

"He was bleeding heavily," Trowell said.

Neighbors on Columbia Place said Dennis was a good kid who used to go house to house to cut grass.

"His little brothers looked up to him," Gaither said. "It's terrible."

Neighbor Jeaneen Linday said she heard gunshots Saturday but didn't realize it was Dennis who had been shot.

"If you know what happened, just be honest and just tell," Lindsay said. "Because he was a really good kid that was actually trying."

Police said they recovered a handgun from the scene.

Investigators do not believe this was a random crime and are offering up to a $25,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest and indictment.
